The Magazine ‘That’s Life” feature on my story came out this week and I have been overwhelmed by the response from people. It’s been incredible!

I have been asked lots of questions and will endeavour to answer them all over the next few weeks.

One question was , what have you tried in the past to lose weight and what worked?

I have to say most things I have tried worked when you stick to them so there’s a lesson in itself. Stick with it!

For the record I have tried :

Atkins, Weight Watchers,The Zone,Sure Slim,Cabbage soup diet, HCG,Jenny Craig, Curves Weight Management Programme, and once(about 20 years ago) when I was young and silly some diet pills for about a week prescribed by my then Doctor. (Do not recommend this!) There is probably more but I can’t recall them now. Sounds terrible when you read them in a row like this but I’m sure I’m not alone on this one!

What saddens me about the above list is that I have spent a lot of energy on trying to get thin!

They all worked when I did and stuck to them so the key is not only in what you eat but your commitment to it beyond the glow of the first bit of weight loss. That’s what I think usually happens for people, they have this rush of weight loss then when it slows down and you have to knuckle down and go for it – the novelty wears off, the “head talk” kicks in and the chocolate or whatever is your “can’t say no to food” starts calling you! You slip up one day and before you know it, it’s back to the old patterns.

Start thinking like a thin person is a tip one of my friends gave me. I’ll explore that more tomorrow.

While the site is free until the 21st April -feel free to tell all your friends who might enjoy the journey to come along for the ride.

Had a great night on the West Coast last night. Dinner was a bit of a challenge, got to my cousins house where I was staying and found out we were having fish and chips for dinner and instead of going off to the supermarket, I gave in and had them.

I did get up and go for a walk with my cousin this morning and it was nice to be walking with the sea on one side of me and the lush bush on the other. I have forgotten how nice the West Coast can be.

Garry and I stopped at Arthurs Pass and had a really nice lunch , a chicken filo parcel with salad which still fits with my eating plan.

It’s my birthday tomorrow so we (our two daughters and my husband )are going out for Teppen Yaki for dinner. As its the end of daylight saving I will get a sleep in and manage a walk in the morning I am sure.

I read an article today about drinking water to lose weight and I am very conscious that I still need to up the amount I drink in a day.

Where does the time go?

I have actually been out for a few walks and spent sometime on the re-bounder which is great! It’s that T.O.M for me so that effects my energy levels and also my desire to do any exercise. I went off to the Acupuncturist and he told me that weight loss is not his area of expertise so I came out weighing the same but with a much improved neck ha-ha!

I spent the whole weekend in Christchurch instead of going away so it was a nice chill out and catch up weekend. Spent several hours setting up a home office so that meant bending and sorting and twisting and walking back and forth around the house, hope it helped. I’m not weighing this week as having my T.O.M is not going to give me a true reading so looking forward to next weeks and breaking the stall.

I’m thinking of having myself a wee mini challenge within my larger challenge, more about this later in the week

There is no change in my weight this week. So It’s official my weight has not changed for more than a month. If I keep mucking around I will be losing $27,000 ! I believe that the problem must lie in my thinking. I am going to explore Acupunture and something for mindset, perhaps hypnosis or a meditation Cd? I will keep you posted. That’s Life Magazine is going to be running my story in issue 15 so watch out for it. I will send out an email reminding everyone the week before so you if you are interested you can go out and get your copy. The fact that the magazine is doing a story has just increased my motivation level! I am also investigating how I can add a forum so that you can all post your own journey on the site. I also spoke to Damian Kristof who’s programme I did first and he asked how the weight loss was going , hated having to say it wasnt this month since I had finished his programme. You can only imagine his response. I have also come to the conclusion that the Curves eating Programme was not right for me over the last few weeks with all the travel I have been doing. I am now trying to decide what plan I will trial next. It better have some impact on my weight, can’t afford to have another month of no loss!

177.5 pounds (80.5 kilos)

Had my official weigh in at the doctors and while they are happy that I have kept the weight off I have already lost I an disappointed that i have not lost any weight for the month of February, so that is not great for my challenge. I am struggling with the curves weight management programme as I find the amount of food alot to get through in a day. I know I have probably been undereating and have wreaked my matabolism and therefore need to eat more. I guess if I could have an excuse it would be that I have been travelling quite abit. I am in Sydney from tomorrow until next Monday then after that I think no travel for 6 to 8 weeks so will be a good chance to refocus. I have been researching another diet and may start on it early if I am still struggling with the Curves one. Thanks to all those that are sending in their words of encouragement! Love to hear your stories. My sister in Law has lost over 30 kilos since I started talking about doing this so if I was her, I would have been done if I had followed in her footsteps!
