Energy in and Energy Out

I have had a great week until I got to Friday. Went to a conference where I presented a workshop to about 100 people. It was a great day but then I ate Chocolate and then ate some more chocolate and then some more chocolate and then guess what – just one more piece of chocolate.

I then added to that by going out for dinner and having a glass of wine and fried potatoes! So this morning my husband pushed me to run and walk around the park by my office for an hour! I have done my 10,000 steps by 9am ! so any more today is a bonus. I got on the scales and it had made a 1 kg change. I have just undone all the good work I did this week and so close to my holiday when it is already going to be difficult!

I need my head read! Enough dwelling – onwards and upwards. I am going to go to the gym at lunch time and do a 20 minute interval run as well today and if I still have something in me then I’ll do a hill walk at the end of the day to get back on track.

How’s your journey going?

  1. Phyllis,

What did you eat for breakfast on Friday? Come on be honest! Dont forget what Damien said about no starchie carbs if your a woman with over 30% body fat. That I presume would be yourself as Iam too. What are you doing going to Jenny Craig, you know what you need to do and by going there you are putting your willpower aside and letting others pick up the pieces – not to mention throwing money away at memberhip – you have the determination to do this. Jenny craigs policy and ideas on what you should be eating are totally different to that of Damiens – stick to one plan and increase your cardio on your weight days if you are doing resistance training and if you are not – do it. Start with a 3 day spread (your trainer can tell you about that) and start with 3 sets and 10 reps increasing to 7 sets and 10 reps when you have the energy – and GET GET GET some Olive Leaf Extract which will get rid of all bugs (both bacterial, and viral – winter flus and colds. It also increases recovery rates after exercise and weights to I think double. This stuff rocks – you can buy it in NZ from Natrual Health Food Shops and if they dont stock it ring a Naturopath who will tell you where to get it from and the only other thing you need is either Fish Oil if your not allergic to seafood or the other option (plant derived Flax seed oil) I take 10mil once a day, chuck it into my 35-40mg per serve protein shake at morning tea time and chuck back 7ml of Olive leaf and I turn into a super charged athelete. I’ve let myself go as you know with the news of Mums cancer over the last week and I feel like *!#!. So todays the first day back on it. I managed to go from 81.4kg to 72kgs in 10 weeks. Since this bad news I whacked on .8kg and climbing also the Dr has just diagnosed acute hypothyroidism and put me straight onto tablets – this can cause uncontrolled weight gain. Which happened post baby as it does with alot of women and this is where your thyroid goes through Hormone upheavals resulting in Post baby weight gain. So all you new mums out there get your thyroid checked for imbalances and you will start to feel normal again. Whats up with the Thats life story phyllis?

  2. Hi Kelly
you are a doll! yes i am gutted about wasting a few weeks on Jenny Craig and not getting anywhere. I should have known , I had pies for lunch on it and it felt so wrong to be eating them!
So its onwards and upwards now as I cant dwell
i am sorry to hear about your Mum and your condition as well.
Take care of yourself – i will write more in my blog for all to read as im not sure how many people click in here.
    xxx Stay strong girl

  3. Hi Phyllis,

Booked tickets to come back to NZ on the 5th September to see Mum, she cant have surgery as she has alot of other health related conditions and going under would risk her life anyway. So tablets it is for now and see how she goes. I have set myself a mini goal like you have and I have six weeks to go till we jump on the plane in Melbourne. I have just got a new job as a sales rep for a freight co. here and loving it. Its just what I needed to get me back on track and to keep busy during this trying time. I just want to get back to NZ to give Mum a big cuddle. She is also Parkinsons aswell so she doesnt really have a good understanding of whats happening to her. She and Dad are touring the county at the mo during the cyclones and are hunkering down up North in the Bay of islands somewhere. So I hope they are OK?? Have been intouch with the cell phones, they dont have power anymore but dont have to get back in a hurry either. My main delimer now is to get back on track with the eating and get motivated and focused on that 5th September date. I have started to throw all my loose clothes out to the Salvation army and buying tight pants that I cant sit down in. That works – then you dont have an excuse to put on weight and you know if you do the jeans will ride up your @!#*. Hope you have fun in Singapore and if you can just eat lots of fish and veges. Thats it girlfriend – and remember the golden rule – eat every 3 hours and dont get hungry – just eat the right stuff. Have protein for brekkie – it will balance out your sugar levels and stop you feeling the carb craving. I’m now 71.0kg even and even after two weeks of the stress with Mum I am still loosing even though I havent set a foot in the gym. Cant let it slip any longer though as my metabolism will slow down and I’m feeling cranky and bitchy. Take care – you’ll have a ball of a time if you say NO NO NO- to that deep fried squid.
