Day Two

5:10am wake up, a lot easier than I had anticipated. I had a mouthful of yoghurt a glass of water and we were on our way. The walk was 6.4km of beautiful scenery (it definitely helps to enjoy where you’re walking); we walked down hills, along the coastline and along the beach. I felt so refreshed after the walk and I am amazed at how easily I was able to walk the distance.  After the walk we sat down and had breaky which was a big change for me because that was a meal I always skipped. I then hit a wall at around 10am and thought I needed to sleep, but after a little lie down I felt energised again.

post Day One

Wow what a whirlwind of a day! I have just flown in from Hamilton to what is currently lovely weather in Christchurch. The drive from the airport to Phyllis’s home was fantastic as we both discussed our expectations and concerns for my weight loss. I have just settled in to my new home for the next 13 weeks and already I can feel the mental change from being in this new environment, the determination and goals are forming and I am already dreaming of all those nice clothes I will be able to wear and the social events I will no longer be avoiding.

A few shocks for me today in my new lifestyle change but the biggest was NO BREAD! Sigh…. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but saying no bread to me is like saying no smoking to a smoker! It’s going to be tough but clearly this is something I was doing wrong in the first place!

I am looking forward to my journey and hope that through my journey you will succeed in yours.

post 23 kilos lighter in only 12 weeks

Way to go Myra, 23 kilos lighter and now in Love, meeting the man of her dreams has meant that Myra is going to continue her Journey with her new man. I enjoyed getting to know Myra and wish her well.

post 7.1Kilos in Two Weeks! Now we’re talking!

Phyllis:

Watch Myra's confidence soar in this video from the last one. Myra has worked her butt off the last two weeks and she is reaping the rewards. Myra has showed me she has what it takes and is determined to stay focused on her target. She is enjoying the food and although not in love with the early mornings, she is always  in the lounge at 5.45am with her gear on ready to go!

Myra's first walk was 6.3 kms. On the way we set a goal for her to walk a 10 km race in June but reaching the clock tower on her first day meant we had to step that up to the half marathon! Myra already in her first day could see what was possible! By the 6th day she had clocked up a 15 km walk! The blisters on the first day however were going to present a huge issue and having given up work to come down and with a limited budget, good quality shoes seemed so far out of reach.

Myra could wait until she got a job which could be weeks away or I could try to get her a pair. I hate asking for free things as it's not in my nature and my belief to take, but I knew it was very important for Myra's joints and success to get this one thing correct. I jumped onto the computer and emailed Laurie from Front Runner in Colombo Street and gave him just a few lines about Myra and what we were doing and asked for his help for a pair of shoes. Laurie has a business to run too and it's  not his reasonability to give away stuff, it  all comes out of someone's pocket at the end of the day. I also emailed the womans Nike shop. Within an hour an email came back from Laurie from Front Runner with a big yes!! I was quite overwhelmed to be honest! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH LAURIE! If you need shoes, please please go to Laurie and his team, they genuinely care! Myra walked out with a fantastic pair of shoes and two very expensive pairs of socks to ensure no more blisters or problems.

Then it was off to Contours Gym who have ended up helping Myra as well by giving her a month free then half price for 6 months to help her along the way. This is a case of a Hand up not a hand out and both Myra and I are so greatful!

Watch how much more of Myra we see in this Video as we start to see less of her! Go Girl xx
